Phoenix show resolution

WALSALL Phoenix reached the Junior Cup Final following a hard-fought 1-0 win over Resolution.

Alex Brown pounced for the only goal 10 minutes into the second half when he capitalised on indecision between the Resolution defence and goalkeeper.

Phoenix will now play Sutton United in the final - ironically to be played at Resolution's ground on April 12. Only one Premier Division game took place over the Easter break, but it proved a key encounter as league leaders Village were held to a 1-1 draw by Silhill.

Full-back Richard Collins fired Silhill in front as Village rode their luck, especially when John Bradley rattled the woodwork on the stroke of half-time.

James Westwood equalised for Village on the hour. The result opens the door for defending champions Sutton United (who won the Fazeley Cup at the weekend) to draw level with Village as they remain nine points adrift, but with three games in hand.
