Solihull secure status

SOLIHULL Moors secured their Blue Square North status for another season after pulling off an excellent 2-1 win at Blyth Spartans.

Moors made light of a four-and-a-half-hour journey by racing into a 2-0 lead by half-time.

Andy Ducros scored both goals, the opener arriving after 11 minutes when he was set up by Simon Hollis.

Darren Middleton paved the way for Ducros's second strike on 40 minutes with Spartans unable to respond until the 89th minute through Gary Brown.

Chasetown climbed back into the BGB Southern Midland play-off places after beating rock-bottom Berkhamsted 4-0 at Church Road.

The margin of victory would have been far greater but 18-year-old goalkeeper Michael Underwood was in breathtaking form for Berkhamsted.

Chasetown built a 2-0 advantage by half-time with goals from David Woodvine and a Dean Perrow penalty.

Nick Hawkins headed home a third on 54 minutes before Perrow plundered his second on the hour, taking his Southern League tally to 27 this season.

Perrow could have increased the total still further but was denied when Underwood saved his 85th-minute penalty.

Alvechurch won the Worcestershire Senior Urn by beating West Midlands League side Brierley Hill 4-0 at Aggborough.

Goals from Sam Hawker, Lee Chilton, Jamie McWilliams and Chris Bladen did the damage.
