Chris Hanna joins Redditch United

REDDITCH United boss Gary Whild has recruited former Walsall prospect Chris Hanna to boost his attack.

Hanna had spent part of last season out on loan with Hednesford Town and appeared to be heading for Kettering this term after doing pre-season with the Poppies.

Whild revealed: “I tried to get him on loan at Redditch while he was with Walsall.

“It looked as though he was joining Kettering, but for some reason, a deal never materialised.

“Chris was aware that I was interested in him and got in touch with one of my players Graham Deakin, as the pair were together at Walsall.”

Hanna was pressed into action quicker than expected after Reds new recruit from Hinckley United Owen Storey suffered a clash of heads during this week’s 1-1 draw at Kings Lynn that required 11 stitches to his mouth, some of which were internal.

It now means that Hanna is likely to partner Scott Rickards or Carl Heggs in attack at Vauxhall Motors today.
