FA Cup - Chasetown back on the road to Wembley

CHASETOWN begin another FA Cup adventure tomorrow when they entertain Nottinghamshire side Carlton in the first qualifying round at their Church Street ground.

The game is sure to evoke memories of last season’s epic run when the Scholars became the lowest ranked club since Alvechurch in 1974 to reach the third round before going out to eventual finalists Cardiff.

Scholars boss Charlie Blakemore has warned his players past reputations will count for nothing.

As a result, he has dropped one of his heroes from last season, goalkeeper Lee Evans, in favour of Ryan Price.

Former Walsall and Lincoln City striker Gary Birch is also likely to find himself on the bench in preference to Tony Onokah, while Richard Teasdale, Vaughan Thomas and Adie Smith are expected to operate in the heart of defence.

Former Albion defender Darryl Burgess has been asked to take charge of managerless Bromsgrove Rovers as they face a potential banana skin at West Midlands League side Ellesmere.
