Causeway boss Carl Burley bemoans last gasp equaliser

CAUSEWAY United manager Carl Burley couldn’t believe his bad luck when top-of-the-table Market Drayton equalised against them in the 96th minute.
Burley admitted: “The goal was hard to take. Our tactics and the way we executed them were spot-on for 95-and-a-half minutes.
“Then a misunderstanding between central defender Matt Aston and goalkeeper Joel Skeldon resulted with them both leaving the ball for each other. As a result, Market Drayton nipped in to score through Tom Ward.
“Both Matt and Joel blamed themselves – they were distraught.
“Yet they had been our best two players on the day and if it hadn’t been for them, we wouldn’t have even taken a point. I felt sorry for the pair of them, but I told them they would win more points for me this season than lose.’’
It could have been different moments earlier when substitute Danny Jones rounded Market Drayton’s goalkeeper, who then brought him down.
Burley confirmed: “I thought the goalkeeper should have been sent off, but when I spoke with the referee afterwards, he didn’t think Danny would have scored.
“I’m not going to criticise the ref, but I thought he got that decision wrong.”
