Nick Wright brace adds to growing reputation

Nick Wright

NICK Wright netted two more goals for Tamworth this week to enhance his growing reputation.

The striker’s brace helped Tamworth to celebrate a 2-1 win over Gateshead and assistant boss Darron Gee declared: “It’s the first time we’ve had to dig deep for quite a while. In fact they had us on the back foot, but with Nick in such a rich vein of form at the moment, we’ve always got a chance of scoring.

“However, it’s not all about one man. Had we been 1-0 down with 10 minutes to go last season, our heads would have dropped. This time we’re making things happen and Nick has made a big difference.

“Previously he tended to drift in and out of games. The crowd would get on his back, because they didn’t think he was trying.

“People should remember Nick’s only 20 years old and still learning his trade.

“We’ve been working hard with him to improve his all-round game. He’s one hell of a prospect and it was no fluke that he should come back to score twice against Gateshead. They couldn’t hold him towards the end.

“Once he scored, his game went up a gear.

“He showed great maturity when taking his penalty to re-position the ball after Gateshead had shown a fair degree of gamesmanship.

“Nick’s got everything in his locker at the moment and people will always want goalscorers.

“Let’s see how he develops over the next three months.”
