Stratford Town in the hunt for players

STRATFORD Town manager Micky Moore must start recruiting again after a third player departed from Knights Lane this week.

Former Leamington and Redditch United marksman Richie Adam joined forces with Southern Midland side Woodford United.

Moore had already lost fellow frontrunner Rory May to Willenhall Town and Ramone Stephens to Shifnal Town in the past couple of weeks.

With Loz Rawlings, Richard Munday and goalkeeper Chris Jay all sidelined with injury, Moore has seen his Stratford squad reduced to 14 players.

Moore admitted: “I didn’t really want to start bringing people in at this stage of the season, but it seems as though I’ve got no option.”

Adams’ exit took the gloss of Stratford’s FA Vase progress this week when they beat Bridgnorth Town 4-1 after the Shropshire side had been reduced to nine men following a couple of sendings-off.

Moore couldn’t hide his delight in the manner his side responded after their heartbreaking FA Cup defeat to Romulus when going out to a last-gasp goal.

Moore maintained: “Neither side deserved to win – it had a draw written all over it and I was looking forward to taking them back to Stratford.

“Then just when I thought we were going to see the game out, Tyrone Fagan nipped in to score with an 89th-minute header.”
