Non-League round-up - Harriers up to third
KIDDERMINSTER Harriers have climbed to third place in the Blue Square Premier after a 2-0 win over York City last night.
It looked as though Brian Smikle’s stooping 63rd-minute header was going to settle the contest.
But striker Justin Richards rammed home a second deep into stoppage time.
England C international Russ Penn combined with Martin Brittain, whose cross was converted by Smikle. Richards scored on 91 minutes after converting a low cross by sub David McDermott to clinch his seventh of the term.
Solihull Moors made progress in the Setanta Shield with a 1-0 victory over Redditch United.
The goal arrived three minutes from time when Moors marksman Jake Edwards headed in a corner.
Halesowen Town had to thank full-back Jack Allward for their success over Sutton Coldfield Town in the Southern League’s GX Cup. Allward had to take over in goal on 50 minutes after Nick Bussey was sent off for bringing down striker Jamille Matt.
Halesowen were already trailing 1-0 to a Jae Martin goal, which was cancelled out on 55 minutes through Constantine Melitas.
The tie was decided on penalties. Halesowen won 6-5 with Allward netting the decisive kick.
