Hednesford in for keeper

HEDNESFORD Town manager Dean Edwards has brought in former Halesowen Town goalkeeper Danny Woodhall to replace the injured Stuart Brock.

Woodhall, who spent last season with Southern League Premier side Team Bath, has recently returned following a spell in the USA.

Former Kidderminster Harriers and AFC Telford goalkeeper Brock damaged his groin in last Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Cammell Laird.

Woodhall made an immediate impact, keeping a clean sheet as Hednesford beat Matlock 4-0 this week to go second in the Unibond Premier.

Edwards insisted: “Danny hasn’t just come in as cover. He’s here to create competition for places. To be fair, he didn’t put a foot wrong against Matlock.”

Edwards has also added experienced AFC Telford defender Asa Charlton to his squad on loan, adding: “It’s an open-ended agreement with Telford manager Rob Smith.”

And Edwards has also praised the contribution of pint-sized frontrunner Elliot Durrell, who has also arrived from Telford.

Edwards insisted: “Elliot’s really impressed me. He waited for his chance and proved to have the heart of a lion.

“He scored at Cammell Laird and got another against Matlock after Tyrone Barnett struck with a hat-trick,” he added.
