Young Lambs step up in style

TAMWORTH stretched their unbeaten run to 10 games this week when they defeated Banbury United 2-0 in the Birmingham Senior Cup.

Jake Sheridan and Lee Hildreth hit the goals – but the real talking point was the fact manager Gary Mills gave debuts to 16-year-old trio Sean Gillon, Grant Roscorler and Brendon Murphy.

Assistant boss Darron Gee revealed: “We didn’t realise until the day of the game that the three of them had to be signed on different forms.

“It meant general manager Russell Moore having to make a mad dash to a couple of schools to make sure they were signed up in time for the 4pm deeadline.

“One of the lads even had to catch a train to get down the club in time to sign. It just shows their commitment.

“When Gary informed one of them they would be playing, he went as white as a sheet and Gary had to shake him to make sure he was alright.

“Yet the one great thing about these youngsters is they show no fear when they are playing.”
