RUSHALL Olympic let slip a 2-0 lead before being pegged back by Belper Town to leave their play-off hopes in UniBond Division One South hanging by a thread. A 2-2 draw at second-placed Belper means the Pics, in sixth spot, need to win their final match of the season on Saturday at Shepshed Dynamo and hope either Carlton – two points ahead with a vastly superior goal difference – or Glapwell – three points ahead with just a two-goal better goal difference – slip up.
Paul Holleran’s men stunned Belper when Carl Palmer fired them ahead on 54 minutes and Jarred Stevens doubled the lead ten minutes later.
But Belper roared back with two goals in a three-minute spell. Lee Stevenson slotted home a penalty on 76 minutes and then Anthony Wilson equalised.
