Alvechurch in 5-1 win over Highgate United

ALVECHURCH finally found their shooting boots this week when they fired five first-half goals past hapless Highgate United.
The 5-1 success provided the Church with some consolation following their luckless FA Cup exit to Kidsgrove Athletic.
Joint boss Jamie McWilliams said: “We did to Highgate what we should have done to Kidsgrove.
“At Kidsgrove, we should have got at least a draw out of the game but we just couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net and lost 1-0.
“We came flying out of the blocks against Highgate and played very well.
“As a result, the game was won by half-time and we probably eased off a bit, while Highgate had a bit more bite about them in the second half.”
McWilliams made his mark by netting the fifth Church goal on the stroke of half-time and said: “It was my first goal of the season. I probably won’t score again.’’
The Church have increased their firepower by adding much-travelled Nav Arshad to the squad.
The one-time Redditch United and Solihull Borough marksman has more recently been at Willenhall Town with ex-Church boss Shaun Cunnington.
