Chasetown look to strengthen

CHARLIE Blakemore is planning a pre-Christmas dip into the transfer market to ensure Chasetown are prepared for a New Year challenge.

The Scholars, who today travel to Brigg Town, occupy fourth place in the UniBond League Division One South table.

But with Dean Perrow not expected to be fit until January after his Achilles tendon injury and with Lee Parsons facing further knee surgery, boss Blakemore needs to bolster his numbers.

“I do want to strengthen the squad in some areas,” said Blakemore. “I’ve only got 16 fit first-team players and any more injuries would be a real headache.”

Chasetown’s defeat to Rushall last week cost them the chance to go joint-top but the positive was the form of Reece Styche, who has been hugely impressive since joining from Shepshed Dynamo.

“Reece is an absolute handful,” said Blakemore. “He is full of confidence and enjoying his football.”
