Leamington draft in Nuneaton's Matt Lewis on loan

PAUL Holleran reckons he knows exactly what he is getting after bringing Matt Lewis to Leamington: a proven goalscorer.

Lewis was Halesowen Town’s top scorer when Holleran was Yeltz boss and has been reunited with his former manager after joining the Brakes on loan from Nuneaton Town.

The former AFC Telford, Solihull and Kidderminster forward is expected to make his debut in today’s Zamaretto Premier trip to Hemel Hempstead.

“Matt has been on my radar since I took over at Leamington,” said Holleran. “The goalscoring is something that has been on my mind in the last month.

“I think there are two reasons why he has joined us.

“He realises there’s more of a chance of playing regularly at Leamington because Nuneaton have so many forwards at the moment, but there’s also the fact he is linking up with me and (assistant) Lee Williams again.

“He had some good times with us at Halesowen.”

The Brakes also confirmed that defender Scott Lycett has made his temporary stay from Stafford Rangers a permanent one.

The arrivals, plus last week’s capture of Peter Faulds from Solihull Moors, means Holleran has drafted in eight new faces since he succeeded Jason Cadden as boss.
