Rushall Olympic happy to let battle commence as new players sign in

RUSHALL Olympic will be happy to let battle commence for places after Stuart McNaught became their third new face in the last fortnight.

Manager Neil Kitching has snapped up McNaught from Boldmere St Michaels and the midfielder was an unused substitute when his new club beat his old in their Walsall Senior Cup-tie on Tuesday.

McNaught follows the arrival of strikers Justin Nesbitt from Hednesford Town and ex-Bedworth prospect Danny Edmund from Nuneaton Griff.

“We spoke to Stuart a couple of weeks ago but he wanted to stay to help Boldmere in their Vase tie at Whitley Bay and try to get them into the last 32,” said assistant boss Martin Sockett.

“We felt it wasn’t quite the right etiquette to start him on Tuesday but he was on the bench just in case.

“We feel he is ready for the step-up now. He has got plenty of ability, a fantastic engine and a determination to do well.”

Rushall’s win – courtesy of Gary Fitzpatrick’s extra-time goal – earned them a second-round trip to Darlaston Town and extended their unbeaten run to five matches.
