Surprise package Tamworth eye top spot

TAMWORTH have been challenged to keep believing in themselves – and seize the opportunity to claim top spot in non-League’s top tier tomorrow.
Only the width of the crossbar prevented Kyle Perry scoring a last-minute winner in midweek to nudge the Lambs into pole position.
But they entertain York City tomorrow, knowing a win could put them joint top of the Blue Square Bet Premier table.
Gary Mills’ fourth-placed side – three points behind leaders AFC Wimbledon – have become the division’s surprise package but the Lambs boss stresses it’s down to hard work and faith in each other and that must continue.
“Maybe we were a little bit anxious against Bath on Tuesday but we showed a lot of character to come back from two goals down,” said assistant boss Darron Gee.
“We know football in this league is a physical challenge but it’s also a mental challenge.
“You have to be strong mentally. You need to be on your game, every game.
“It’s been hard, especially with the number of games we’ve played in a short time, and with a small squad. But we need to keep toughing it out.”
With Dan Bradley back fit, the Lambs have a fully fit squad but Mills could tinker with the starting line-up.
Seb Lake-Gaskin made an impressive impact as a substitute on Tuesday to press his claims for a starting role.
