Solihull Moors' Micky Moore backs opponent Tim Flowers' manager's skills - after Saturday

MICKY Moore will be aiming to add to new boss Tim Flowers’ frustration today – but he believes his one-time colleague will prove he can be a top boss.

Solihull Moors assistant boss Moore worked with the former Wolves and Coventry keeper at Redditch United last season but they will be in opposite dug-outs today when Moors entertain Flowers’ new club Stafford Rangers today.

Flowers has suffered two successive defeats since replacing Chris Brindley at Marston Road but Moore has no doubts Flowers, together with his new No.2 Matt Elliott and ex-Reds goalkeeping coach, John Reeves, will turn round Stafford’s fortunes.

“I think Tim will do really well,” said Moore. “It will take him time to find his feet but he has been keen to be a manager. He was with us at Redditch for four months and he watched a lot of games to get to know the level.

“And in Matt Elliott he has got someone who has done well at Hednesford and who knows about non-League.”

Solihull’s concern is get through a worrying list of injuries, but they have added a second loan signing by drafting in Michael Blackwood from Brackley Town.

The former Tamworth, Kidderminster Harriers, Worcester City and Telford midfielder has linked up for a month.

He follows the arrival of Andy Gooding from Corby Town.

n Redditch United boss Matt Gardiner has warned his players to keep their discipline – or pay the price.

The Reds had Dexter Ravenhill sent off in last week’s FA Cup defeat at Guiseley to follow the previous week’s red card for Jemiah Richards.

Both followed retaliation but Gardiner has told his youngsters they need to learn the lessons to keep their cool.

“I’m trying to drum it into the players about the importance of keeping disciplined,” said Gardiner. “You can’t react.

“It’s going to hurt me and the team by players now being suspended. But it’s going to hurt them too because if players come in and do well they can have no complaints if they lose their shirt.”

The Reds, meanwhile, have targeted Loughborough Dynamo striker Luke Edwards. After he impressed in the sides’ FA Cup tie a month ago, Redditch confirmed they have filed a seven-day approach.
