Fans will have big role to play says Kidderminster boss Steve Burr

STEVE BURR says the fans’ support can be a vital ‘12th man’ in Kidderminster Harriers’ challenge for the play-offs.

Harriers’ supporters, who rallied behind the club to stave off the threat of administration, have cheered them into the top five of the Blue Square Bet Premier with the last two home attendances reaching 3,000.

The figure is double the previous Aggborough average, and another bumper crowd is expected on Tuesday when they entertain Crawley Town.

Today, Harriers visit Luton Town in a play-off chasing showdown which could attract the biggest crowd of the non-league season. “We have had 3,000 for the last two home games and we would love to take 3,000 to Luton as well!” said Burr. “I’m sure we will take a few with us. The fans are going to play a big part for us. The atmosphere has been fantastic and it’s meant a lot to the players.”

Harriers still have to play Luton, Darlington, Fleetwood Town, and Histon at Aggborough in the run-in.

Burr’s side have lost just once since the New Year and the boss says confidence could not be higher for today’s trip to Kenilworth Road.

“We’re not going to be daunted going to Luton,” said Burr. “These players have risen to every challenge they have faced and I know they will be looking forward to it, especially after the run we’ve had.”

Butt, however, has plenty of respect for Luton, especially having worked with some of the players in his role as assistant to Paul Fairclough with the England C team.

Ex-Harrier Matthew Barnes-Homer, whose goal took the Hatters into the FA Trophy semi-finals last weekend, will certainly be one to watch.

Meanwhile, York City fans have raised £750 for Harriers through a bucket collection at one of their recent home games.
