Draw felt like a win for Steve Burr's Kidderminster Harriers

STEVE Burr felt it was like a win after Kidderminster Harriers grabbed a stoppage-time equaliser to draw 3-3 in a thriller against fellow promotion contenders Luton Town.

A remarkable Blue Square Bet Premier match burst into life with four goals in the final 12 minutes at Aggborough before Mike Williams grabbed an equaliser two minutes into injury time to extend Harriers’ unbeaten run to 13 matches.

The result, combined with Fleetwood Town’s win against Tamworth, meant Harriers slipped to sixth on goal difference behind the Cod Army but Kidderminster have a game in hand.

Manager Burr hailed his players’ never-say-die spirit.

“Anybody will tell you it probably feels like a defeat for Luton, because of the time at which we’ve equalised,” he said.

“In the dressing room, it’s more like a win, where it could have been quite easily the other way around. The mood was upbeat.

“It’s all about going right to the end, and these lads do that. However long is left, we feel we’ll always create chances.”

Harriers had led through Chris McPhee’s 17th goal of the season on 25 minutes, firing home a penalty after Matty Blair had been upended, but Luton levelled through Robbie Willmott’s 30-yard free-kick rocket on 57 minutes.

The Hatters took the lead on 80 minutes through Claude Gnakpa, only for Lee Morris to convert Keith Briggs’ header on 86 minutes to level.

Luton thought they had snatched the winner when Jason Walker scored with five seconds left in normal time but Williams made it 3-3 after prodding in from Jamille Matt’s clever backheel.
