Solihull Moors and Redditch United have to settle for point apiece in drab derby

SOLIHULL Moors endured a night of frustration as Redditch United halted their play-off charge with a goalless draw last night.

The fifth-placed Moors failed to score for the third match in a row in the Blue Square Bet North but it was a game of few chances at the Valley Stadium.

Neither keeper was tested in a game full of endeavour but little quality.

Solihull, however, moved five points clear of sixth-placed Guiseley after the Yorkshire side were walloped 6-0 by title favourites Alfreton Town. Guiseley, though, have two games in hand.

There was no lack of goals at Dales Lane as Rushall Olympic recovered from the shock of conceding an opening goal to hammer Warstone Wanderers 9-1 in their Walsall Senior Cup semi-final.

Richard Smith put the West Midlands League Division One minnows ahead but the Pics managed to turn around with a 2-1 interval lead after goals from Lei Brown and Matt Lewis.

The floodgates were opened after the break after the Warstone keeper suffered a broken shoulder.

Brown, Lewis, Christian Dacres (2), Danny Lennon and Lucan Spittle were all on target, while new recruit Johaine Thompson marked his debut with a goal.

Halesowen Town slipped closer to relegation in the Zamaretto Premier as Brackley Town dished out a 6-0 defeat at St James’ Park.

It was 3-0 after just 13 minutes, with Francis Green netting on three minutes, Tom Winters on target three minutes later, followed by Steve Basham.

Brackley continued to dominate the Yeltz youngsters and former Redditch winger Owen Story added a quick-fire double immediately after half-time. Basham completed the scoring ten minutes from time.

Romulus were the victims of a second-half fightback at play-off-chasing Newcastle Town to lose 3-1 in the Evo-Stik Division One South.

Naveed Arshad pounced to give the Roms the lead on 33 minutes but Jonathon Sheldon levelled just two minutes into the second period. Chris Budrys (54) and Alan Naginton (70) settled it.
