Kidderminster Harriers manager Steve Burr lamented a lack of spark as his side fell to a 3-2 home defeat to Gateshead.
The Heed had stunned the Aggborough crowd to lead 2-0 after 18 minutes through Jon Shaw’s controversial penalty and Micky Cummins’ header.
Harriers hit back within a minute when Nick Wright fired home from Marc Williams’ pass and newcomer Kyle Storer levelled matters with a header from Callum Gittings’ cross on 25 minutes.
Gateshead, however, took the points with Kris Gate’s winner on 80 minutes.
Burr said: “We got ourselves back in the game after going 2-0 down and we looked strong enough to go on and win it.
“But we never kicked on in the second half and never really threatened their goal enough.
