Firm appointed to save Birmingham & Solihull say club now has an 'excellent' chance of staying alive

THE firm appointed to save cash-strapped Birmingham & Solihull claim the club now has an excellent chance of survival.

Insolvency specialists Baker Tilly believes yesterday’s High Court decision to protect them from creditors for the next three weeks gives them the time they need to help the Sharmans Cross Road outfit find new investment.

Bees could have been wound up with the Inland Revenue pressing for payment of a near-six-figure tax bill but the club have been given until October 28 to find a way out of their plight.

Baker Tilly partner Bob Bailey said: “The emphasis will now be on drawing up and implementing a course of action which is in the best interests of the club’s members, players, investors, fans, staff and creditors.

“Yet another positive for the club is that we have a meeting on Thursday with the Rugby Football Union to discuss the survival strategy.

“This is an important step forward as it shows the willingness of the RFU to work with us to help rescue the club from its financial struggles.”

Bailey also invited any potential investors to contact him at Baker Tilly’s Birmingham office on 0121 214 3100 or by email at bob.bailey@bakertilly.co.uk
