Ngalu Tau calls for Birmingham and Solihull Bees to cut out errors

EVERGREEN Bees front-rower Ngalu Tau has told his team they must make a stand and deliver when Cornish Pirates come calling at Damson Park tonight.

The 41-year-old tighthead makes his return to the starting line-up as Bees hope to beat the weather and stage their first home match for more than three weeks.

The Championship strugglers have already had to postpone the Pirates’ visit once and were also forced to call off Sunday’s British & Irish Cup match with Doncaster just a few hours before kick-off.

However, with the Damson Park surface having passed a pitch inspection last night, Bees are desperate to inject some momentum into their season and perhaps capitalise on what will be a tough midweek 550-mile round trip for the men from The Duchy.

But Tau says to do that they will have to cut out the errors. “When we play well we are one of the best sides in the league, no doubt about it,” the prop said.

“But in nearly all of our defeats for the first 40 minutes we have been on top, London Welsh, Cornish Pirates (away), Doncaster, lots of teams.

“Then in the second we drop a little bit and I don’t know why. I think it all comes from poor decision making. Execution is the main thing for us at the moment, in the right areas at the right times.

“Against Doncaster up there we were on top, then we relaxed a bit and tried to run the ball from everywhere and made wrong decisions.”

Ross McMillan leads the side.
