Birmingham and Solihull Bees set for busy fortnight

BEES will face the fallout from the festive freeze when they play four games in under a fortnight following the rescheduling of two cancelled matches.

The British & Irish Cup fixture at Pontypridd, originally scheduled for December 18, will now take place at Sardis Road on Tuesday, January 25 (7.45pm).

And the home Championship match against Rotherham Titans, postponed from Boxing Day, will now be played at Damson Park on Wednesday, February 2 (7.45pm).

“The rescheduling of these two games means we will play four games in the space of 12 days between the Llandovery B&I Cup game in Wales on January 22 and the Rotherham game on February, 2,” said director of rugby Russell Earnshaw.

“This is not ideal in terms of player preparation and recovery time.

‘‘But the injury situation at the club is much improved and we have greater strength in squad terms to be able to manage what will be a tough fortnight for the playing staff.”

In a further amendment to the published fixture list, the Bees’ Championship game at Bedford Blues will now take place on Friday, February 11 at Goldington Road (7.45pm).

The game has been moved forward to avoid clashing with England’s game against Italy.
