KEVIN Maggs may be forced into a couple of changes to the side he picked seven days ago to face Championship leaders Bristol.
Back row Chevvy Pennycook has been ill this week with flu, while outside back Brad Hunt’s wife is expecting a baby and the Australian may not be available for the trip to the Memorial Stadium.
Otherwise the Moseley head coach will stick with his original selection for Sunday’s fixture, a game that was frozen off last Friday night.
That cancellation caused Maggs to rejig his team’s schedule having initially allocated a conditioning week for his squad.
That has had to be cancelled and although there are no concerns about his team’s fitness, there will be issues in terms of fixture congestion if this weekend’s clash doesn’t go ahead.
With the top three to play in the next couple of weeks Mose could well do without a midweek match.
Maggs is also keen to see how dual-registered Northampton Saint Glyn Hughes goes at fly-half having played most of his rugby for Mose at full back. And he also intends to hand a debut to fellow Franklin’s Gardens prospect Anders Mogensen who plays on the wing.
Maggs will also give his side licence to play expansive rugby as they go in search of a third consecutive victory over the league leaders.
“We know we can score tries and if we can score tries on Sunday then we have got a chance of a bonus point and even a win, which is what we will be trying to do.
“We beat them in the B&I Cup when they had their chances but I thought we played really well in the game at Billesley Common when quite a few things came together. Everything we tried worked, they caught us on a good day and we caught them on a bad day.”
