Stourbridge promotion hopes put to the test

Neil Mitchell

STOURBRIDGE will know whether they are going for promotion or just a high finish in National Two by the time the sun goes down over Stourton Park tomorrow.

Opponents Blackheath lie second at the head of a pack of four covered by two points behind runaway leaders Esher.

Third-placed Launceston are at home to Nuneaton while fourth-placed Henley travel to Bradford and Bingley with Stour, in fifth, knowing a win is needed to keep in the mix.

Director of rugby Neil Mitchell said: "A victory puts us in that fighting group. You can't make any predictions when we are only 10 games in.

"What I will tell the players on Saturday is that if we lose to Blackheath we have got to be looking to be a high finisher rather than competitive for a promotion spot.

"Unless we can maintain pressure on the other sides that is where we are looking rather than being in the mix for promotion."
