Nuneaton 26 Stourbridge 16

ANY lingering hopes Stourbridge might have harboured about promotion to National One are in tatters somewhere along the A5 after this defeat at Liberty Way.

Stour went in 16-8 down at half-time and the Nuns were well worth their lead.

To be fair Stour had been forced into a late change with Matt Williams finding himself in the unaccustomed role of fly-half and service and cohesion in the backs suffered.

Ally Bressington put Stour ahead with a penalty but Nuns fly-half Gareth Cull landed three of his own before Nuns' prop Phil Boulton was driven over and Cull added the extras.

A Bressington penalty kept Stour in touch at the break.

A try from Stour full-back John Hall closed the gap in the second period but that was negated by a rolling maul which saw Nuns' lock Alex Shaw forced over.

Bressington landed his 15th try of the season to bring Stour back but they could not find another score and a Cull penalty denied them a bonus.
