Blackheath 32 Stourbridge 21

STOURBRIDGE handed Blackheath too big a start with a poor first-half display, which gave the home side two tries while Stour missed two easy penalties.

Flanker Dave Allen went over after 14 minutes when Stour lost possession in midfield, and centre Sean Moan doubled that just before the break with Frankie Neale adding the conversion and then a penalty.

He kicked another just after the break before wing Martin Freeman started the Stour comeback, going over in the corner with Chris Buck adding the extras.

Hopes of a revival were dashed, though, when Black-heath were awarded a penalty try after Stour brought down a rolling maul. Freeman added a second try, while Blackheath scrum-half Joe Simpson showed individual skill to put his side further ahead.

Stour had the last word with a try from prop James Tideswell with Buck completing a 100-per-cent conversion rate.
