Stourbridge 26 Cambridge 20

STOURBRIDGE made it a double at the expense of Cambridge, who were making their first visit to Stourton Park, but they had to see off a second-half comeback to achieve it.

The down side for Stour was an injury to centre Mark Eastwood 15 minutes from time, which meant the game was completed on an adjoining pitch while he received treatment.

Stour, with the wind at their backs, produced a sparkling first-half display with the strings pulled by fly-half Chris Buck.

They took the lead after just three minutes when flanker Scott Witcomb was the last man in a flowing move and on half-an-hour it was centre Matt Williams who finished off Buck's pass.

Cambridge muscled their way to a pushover try by No.8 Glen Remnant, but Buck extended the lead again this time feeding Eastwood for a 19-5 lead at the break. At the start of the second half Williams scored an individual try for a bonus point and Ally Bressington added his third conversion.

However, Cambridge now had the wind and used it well to produce three tries of their own through flanker James Leigh, winger Tavela Kwilimbe and a second for Remnant to ensure they did not go away empty-handed.
