Stour in pitch switch

STOURBRIDGE'S match against Cambridge was not just a game of the proverbial two halves but two pitches after an injury to Mark Eastwood.

While paramedics worked on the centre the game was switched to an adjoining pitch for the final 10 minutes or so.

Stour spokesman Ian Cole said: "Mark is all right. He was discharged from hospital the same evening but it was a worrying incident at the time.

"He swallowed his tongue and did not breathe for a while, but the medics were on hand and sorted him out pretty quickly. He was treated for about half-an-hour on the pitch and was taken to hospital as a precaution."

Eastwood had earlier scored one of two tries set up by fly-half Chris Buck, the former fourth-choice Moseley No.10, who had an excellent game against Cambridge on their first visit to Stourton Park.

Cole said: "Cambridge did not know how to read him. He created two tries, one for Eastwood and one for Matt Williams, purely by slight of hand.

"Matt's second try was a fabulous individual effort. He has done it a couple of times this season because he is a very elusive runner when he gets the ball in hand. He went through the whole of the Cambridge defence and they never laid a finger on him.

"It is not like a winger's try, which is just speed up the wing, but it is rare to see someone go through the midfield which is what Matt can do."
