Stourbridge 29 Blackheath 7

A FIVE-STAR five-point performance from Stourbridge saw them open up a significant gap at the top of National Two after sweeping aside promotion rivals Blackheath in a four-try blitz.

The largest crowd of the season at Stourton Park might have regretted turning out after 12 minutes when the visitors went ahead through full-back Frankie Neale after a mistake by Stour.

Fly-half Matt Leek added the extras. Five minutes later though and good work by Stour saw winger Tom Jarvis go over and then repeat the trick.

Then a conversion and penalty from Alastair Bressington saw Stour go in at the break 15-7 to the good. Two minutes after the restart Stour went further ahead when scrum-half Rod Petty went over from a kick and chase and with 10 minutes left hooker Ben Gerry went in for the bonus point with Bressington converting both.

Blackheath are now eight points behind second-placed Stourbridge with early leaders Manchester now third seven points adrift although they have a game in hand after this weekend's match at home to Blaydon was postponed. Leaders Otley are three points ahead of Stour.
