FREE-scoring Stourbridge centre Charlie Hayter believes his side have done enough to retain their National One status.
The former Nottingham midfielder bagged three tries in Saturday’s 33-8 victory over Sedgley Park, a result that lifts the Black Country outfit 12 points clear of the drop zone with only four games remaining.
And while they are not yet guaranteed their safety Hayter reckons the fear of relegation has been lifted.
“It’s a lot easier now,” he said. “It’s not mathematically done but we shouldn’t have to worry about the drop now. I’m looking forward to these last few games because we should be able to relax and enjoy them.”
His hat-trick brought his season’s total to 15 with an impressive ten coming in the last nine games.
“It’s a case of being in the right place at the right time,’’ said Hayter.
‘‘Perhaps I should have given a couple of them to the wingers but I just put my head down and went for it on Saturday. Maybe I’ll give them a little bit more ball now we’re safe.”
