JAMIE Hearn believes the Stourbridge side he has rejoined is stronger than the one he left but has called on his new team-mates to prove as much at Rosslyn Park tomorrow.
The Moseley flier, who is back at Stourton Park on loan for the next couple of weeks after leaving for Billesley Common in the summer, has returned to a club packed with top level experience.
However, that has yet to pay dividends and last weekend’s nail-biting win over Wharfedale was just their second victory of a tortuous season.
Having been confined to British & Irish Cup duty at Moseley it was Hearn’s first league start of the campaign and even though it wasn’t in the Championship as he had hoped, he marked the occasion with an excellent display and 13 kicked points.
And for once collective repetition matched individual reputation as Stour secured a late penalty try to take the victory.
Much the same will be required in London at a venue where Hearn scored and Stour won last year.
“On paper the team is probably better than the one I left. The will to work was really good against Wharfedale and there was a determination to dig in for each other. We’ll need to do that again.”
