Warwickshire League - Thriller goes to the wire

HANDSWORTH were involved with a real humdinger of a game against Old Edwardians in the Premier Division.

Just one run separated the sides at stumps in a pulsating contest.

Ernie Ramsey ripped out five for 57 as Old Eds were restricted to 161 all out.

But Handsworth’s hopes of clinching a victory were dashed as Shahid Hussain snapped up six for 37 to leave them on 160 for nine at close.

Moseley Ashfield recorded an emphatic nine-wicket win over Fillongley.

Zubair Khan claimed five for 60 as Fillongley slumped to 129 all out.

Zaheer Suleman led Moseley Ashfield’s charge in reply with 73 not out as his side raced to a winning 132 for one.

Only five runs separated Solihull Blossomfield against Nuneaton.

Having reduced Nuneaton to 143 all out, Bloss were removed for 138 after Nuneaton skipper Jason Dean claimed six for 46.

Kings Heath beat Bedworth by 38 runs. David Joyce scored 64 as Kings reached 219 for nine.

Marco Higgins then hit 62 in Bedworth’s reply but it was not enough as excellent off-spin bowling by Andy Davies, who claimed five for 30, reduced Bedworth to 181 all out.

Chris Bramley scored 128 in Southam’s 295 for seven against Kenilworth, who responded with 238 for seven.

Dave Edmunds scored 88 while Dan Vernon followed up his 53 by taking four for 66.
