Solihull Blossomfield make most of heavy weather

SOLIHULL Blossomfield took advantage of a rain interrupted programme and a below-par performance from Bablake OB to move to within two points of the leaders.

While Fillongley’s match with Warwick and Handsworth’s appointment with Atherstone saw no play at all, Blossomfield took maximum points against Southam.

The victory lifted them to second in the Premier Division as Nuneaton totally outplayed the early pace-setters.

There was no doubting Solihull Blossomfield as the big winners of the weekend, though.

Batting first, the visitors put their hosts to the sword with an impressive 233 for four with 57 from Mohammad Atlaf and 76 from Sheraz Khan.

They then skittled through the Southam response with a five for 20 haul from Andy Greenwood, dismissing the home side for 160.

Bablake, meanwhile, were not having their own way of things against Nuneaton.

Nuns amassed 204 for nine with their innings, Huey Caratella top scored with 55.

In reply Bablake stumbled for 166 for seven for a losing draw and just ten points.

Kenilworth where frustrated by the weather chasing 137 for victory against Kings Heath they made it to 67 for two before rain intervened.

Elsewhere, Bedworth beat Pickwick P & M by seven wickets after chasing a modest target of 96. That earned them 20 points and fifth in the table.
