Coleshill go top of Division Three table thanks to Asif Ali's century

COLESHILL are the new Division Three leaders after a 139-run victory over Studley.

Asif Ali (102) was in form as Coleshill clocked up 220 for six.

Kevin Crotty, Eamonn Bourke and Ali claimed three wickets each to bowl Studley out for 81.

Early pacesetters Fordhouses slipped to third in the table after suffering a surprise seven-wicket defeat at home to Eastnor.

Jabran Khalid (four for 47) and Atiq-ur-Rehman (71 not out) led the way for the Herefordshire visitors.

Bablake Old Boys’ Jason Pyott was again the hero with bat and ball in the victory over struggling Olton & West Warwickshire.

Pyott took five for 51 as Olton were skittled for 209 before hitting 71 as second-placed Bablake won by two wickets.

Oswestry won their battle of the newcomers against Pershore by seven wickets.

In a topsy-turvy innings, hosts Pershore posted 222 for eight.

But an opening stand of 124 from Alex Huxley (73) and 14-year-old Joe Carrasco (54) put Oswestry on the road to their first win of the season. Huxley also boasted bowling figures of four for 30.

Lichfield got the better of their Staffordshire derby draw with Brewood, after posting 261 for seven before the visitors’ chase ended on 256 for seven.

There was also a draw between Sutton Coldfield and Penn after the Wolverhampton hosts hit 221 for seven.

Sutton Coldfield replied with 161 for eight, including skipper Mark Guest’s unbeaten 87.
