Birmingham and District Premier League: Knowle and Dorridge back at the top

REIGNING champions Knowle & Dorridge are back at the top of the Premier Division following a 102-run victory at Kenilworth Wardens.

And with previous leaders Kidderminster Victoria losing their unbeaten record at Moseley, just 12 points separate the top six clubs.

Kenilworth’s Anthony Wilkinson (47 not out) produced a stubborn innings.

Kidderminster came unstuck at Scorers where Freddie Eburah (five for 26) and Ashfak Hussein (four for 25) were in impressive form for Moseley.

James Ralph (50) was the mainstay of the Vics’ innings but the home side had little trouble knocking off the runs, skipper Huw Jones (69) seeing them home for the loss of just two wickets.

At the other end of the table there was joy for Smethwick whose 34-run victory over Walmley was their first win of the season.

Mo Sheikh’s all-round prowess was the key, the former Walsall favourite hitting 59 of his side’s 129 before taking four for 24 as the visitors were skittled out for 95.

Himley opener TP Singh posted the best score of the day as his 150 guided the Stourbridge Road outfit to 317 for eight, Harshad Patel chipping in with a useful 73.

But Shrewsbury held on to secure a losing draw, Will Parton scoring a vital 72.

Opener Gavin Shephard (77), Dan Shilvock (48) and Jake Fawcett (41) helped steer Barnt Green to a narrow victory at home to Walsall.

The visitors had posted 225 for seven, Tim Maxfield (50) top-scoring, before the Cherry Hill Road outfit squeezed home with two overs to spare.

Danny Bowyer (60 not out) and Ryan Canning (56) saw Wolverhampton to 223 for nine but Mike Smith’s side had to settle for a winning draw at Wellington who were 202 for eight at the close.
