Warwickshire advertise for new bowling coach after white U-turn

WARWICKSHIRE have advertised their vacancy for a new bowling coach after the cricket grapevine failed to yield a satisfactory successor to Allan Donald.
After Donald quit Edgbaston in September to return to his native South Africa, the Bears thought they had lined up an immediate replacement when they offered the job to former England and Yorkshire all-rounder Craig White.
But White, having strongly intimated he would accept the job, did a late U-turn and decided to stay as second-team coach at Yorkshire.
So Warwickshire have now decided to formally advertise the position and ideally they want the vacancy filled for when the bowlers step up their preparation work towards the 2010 season in the New Year.
The job has been advertised on the Bears’ website as well as those of the England and Wales Cricket Board and the Professional Cricketers’ Association.
“The club has been able to count upon the services of some of top-class coaches in recent times,” said director of cricket Ashley Giles.
“Filling the shoes of someone like Allan will be a tough task but we are sure there are some high-calibre candidates who will come forward. We would expect a very high level of response to this advertisement.”
