Taylor: Birmingham City are about to hit form for the title

Nonetheless, Monday’s 2-0 victory in a momentous derby was critical for Blues, not least psychologically.
“Definitely,” the goalkeeper affirmed. “The chasing pack are still there, Sheffield United are on a run of form, so yes we’re still looking over our shoulders a bit.
“But also it brought Wolves to within touching distance and it’s a big fight to the end of the season now.
“With them now in the thick of it, that’s good. It was tending to be sort of one of three who were going to join Wolves had they got the result. Thankfully we did, so that keeps them in it.”
Blues visit bottom club Charlton Athletic on Saturday; Wolves also have a Good Friday game: at home to 23rd-placed Southampton.
On Easter Monday, Plymouth Argyle visit St Andrew’s and Taylor said all the Blues players were hoping for another cracking atmosphere.
Many remarked about the noise and volatility on Monday helping the 10-men overcome their local, and promotion, rivals.
“It was mentioned before the game in fact,” said Taylor. “You could sense it coming out for the warm-up. It’s been a good few years since I’ve witnessed and atmosphere like that. That’s how I remember the St Andrew’s crowd, who can make it a very hostile place and difficult for the opposition.
“There have been times this season - for reason we know why - that they haven’t got behind us and it’s made it less intimidating for the opposition. And that’s made it more difficult for us.
“We’re glad we could send the fans home happy with a great result and hopefully they will turn up again with the same vocal support and drive us on.”
“We haven’t been the most attractive team to come and watch,” Taylor continued. “Sometimes the fans have let their frustrations be known.
“We have to hold our hands up sometimes but we are slowly getting to where we want to be and they gave us a big lift on Monday.
“Sebastian Larsson had cramp at the end because of the shift he put in - and that’s what it’s been like with the lads and the effort they’ve put in - but when the crowd roar us on it gives everyone an extra couple of per cent.”
