West Brom boss hails progress of Chris Brunt

Chris Brunt

TONY Mowbray believes in-form winger Chris Brunt epitomises his philosophies on raising the overall long-term playing standards at Albion.

The Northern Ireland international scored twice in the defeat by Manchester City on Sunday and continued his high standard of recent performances.

Brunt took a while to settle into the Premier League but, over the last two months or so, has blossomed.

And Mowbray believes there is still more to come from the No.11.

“I try to improve players and Chris Brunt is an example,” said the manager.

“He scored two at the weekend so he is higher profile but Chris has still got a long way to go in his development. “He is an international footballer but I see him now growing into the role we are asking of him.

“He’s got more of a goal threat and maybe that’s because he has changed wings to get him coming inside on to his left foot.

“His involvement in the game is better than it was.
