Michel denies he's keen on move to Birmingham City

Michel

MICHEL, Blues’ long-standing transfer target, has claimed he isn’t keeping a crafty eye on St Andrew’s.

The Sporting Gijon captain remains on Alex McLeish’s wish list.

A fee of three million euros was agreed for Michel in August but a dispute over the methods of payment – Blues’ old board wouldn’t shell out the chunk the Spanish side wanted up front – saw the transfer fizzle out.

Michel has performed well this term for Gijon, who are sitting ninth in Primera Liga, and it is believed Blues had him watched on Sunday in the defeat to Tenerife.

“I’m very happy here,” said Michel. “I still have this year and another and I look forward to many more at Sporting.

“At times, I think about the Premier League because it’s a pretty major league.

‘‘It has nothing to envy the Spanish league but I’m very happy in my team at Sporting and the Primera Liga. I prefer this.

“No, I do not ever look at the league table out of curiosity and see where Birmingham are in the standings. I just focus on my own game and Sporting.”

Paul Konchesky could also be on Blues’ radar. The Fulham left-back is out of contract in the summer and speculation has surfaced about a £750,000 January offer.
