Cameron Jerome: Birmingham City must beat teams around us in table

CAMERON Jerome has urged Blues to carry on up the table – by continuing to defeat teams considered their true rivals.
West Ham, struggling one place above the drop zone, come into that category – they are ninth-placed Blues’ opponents, at St Andrew’s tomorrow.
“It’s positive regarding climbing the table,” said the striker, “but the most important thing we’re concentrating on is points rather position.
“We’re just trying to get to that target to keep us up and take it from there.
“We’re taking things as they come and Wigan was another important game, we have to beat the teams around us.
“We are on a bit of a run and the team spirit is there for everyone to see.
“We showed tremendous character to come back and get the win away from home. That’s something we’ve not been able to do in recent years, turn around a game that was looking like a loss into a win.’’
“People have talked about Europe but we have got to be realistic here,” Jerome added.
“We’re not even at Christmas yet. We’ve got to accumulate as many points as possible and the games like Wigan are the ones we’ve got to win.
“The other week we beat Wolves away, before that Fulham at home and Sunderland. These games are important.
“No disrespect, we’re not going to beat the top four, five teams – they are in a different league to us sometimes in regards to class and where they’re likely to finish.
“We’ve got to beat the teams slightly above and below us.’’
