Birmingham City: Scorer Bowyer shrugs off the plaudits

HE has scored the three solitary goals in 1-0 victories in the last four matches.
But Lee Bowyer deflects the personal plaudits that continue to come his way.
“The main thing is the team thing first,” he said. “If we are keeping clean sheets, we will have chances of winning games.
“I think our back four and the keeper proved again on Saturday that they are playing very well and solid and fortunately enough for me, I popped up and nicked the winning goal again.
“It is always nice doing that and we are beating teams in and around us and putting a bit of distance between us – but there is still a long way to go.”
Bowyer maintained Blues’ party line that they have achieved nothing yet, following the defeat of West Ham United that took them into eighth position in the Premier League.
“In this league you can get punished,” he said. “Man City drew again on Saturday and you think of the money they’ve spent. Anything can happen in this league.
“As long as we keep picking up our points, then once we get safe then we can start looking and seeing where we can end up.”
