Derby demolition man Kevin Phillips eager for more Birmingham City involvement

He’s the derby day destroyer - and Kevin Phillips is hoping for the chance to do the trick for Blues on Sunday.

Phillips has a remarkable scoring record in local spats, whether it be for Sunderland, Villa or Albion.

Indeed, his goal at St Andrew’s FOR Villa in 2005 set them on their run of six straight Second City derby victories.

"I’ve only played in the ones for Birmingham last year. I came on twice, at Villa Park and St Andrew’s, only 10 minutes.

"I’ve a good record in derbies, it is one of those things. There are two big derbies coming up this week I’ve scored in - Sunderland-Newcastle and Villa-Birmingham. I enjoy those sort of games.

"I’ve scored plenty of goals and, for me, a lot of them have been in derbies so I’m delighted.
