West Brom: Cox bemoans Blackpool misfortune
Nov 5 2010 by Christopher Lepkowski, Birmingham Mail

SIMON Cox admits he was pleased to see Pablo Ibanez escape a ban for his red card – even though it was of little personal consolation for the West Brom striker.
The luckless 23-year-old was making his first-ever Premier League start when he was sacrificed following Pablo’s early dismissal at Blackpool.
Cox lasted just 15 minutes of Monday’s 2-1 defeat before making way for the more defensive-minded Steven Reid, despite impressing early on. He was chosen ahead of Graham Dorrans to replace the injured James Morrison.
Ironically, Dorrans was to play 65 minutes of the game after being brought on for Marc-Antoine Fortuné as Roberto Di Matteo once again reshuffled his side after Gonzalo Jara was given his marching orders.
But Cox has no wish to play the victim.
“It was disappointing but we have to get on with it,” Cox told the Birmingham Mail.
“It’s not great when you come into the work place the following time you’re in and everyone says ‘I felt for you’ because it reminds you of what happens when you want to forget all about it.
“It would have been different for me had he not been sent off.
“I saw it, everyone else in the ground saw it wasn’t a sending off. Okay by all means give the penalty but it wasn’t a red card.
“Eleven v 11 would have been different - it was the wrong decision but we can’t moan about it.
“With Mozza getting injured it was a fight between myself and Dozza and I got the nod.
