Wolves hit by injury blow ahead of six-pointer

CHRISTOPHE Berra faces a race to be fit for Saturday’s vital trip to Blackpool.
The Scottish international complained of a sore knee in the warm-up ahead of the loss to Bolton but has not been ruled out.
“He might have a chance for Saturday but we’ll have to see how he is for a proper prognosis,” said Mick McCarthy.
“Christophe came back in to have it looked at and went back out there to see if he’d be alright but after trying some sprints and kicking a ball he realised he wouldn’t.’’
A defensive reshuffle certainly didn’t help Wolves, who will also be without Jody Craddock, although he is expected to start training later this week.
“Against two in-form strikers like Davies and Elmander, to lose your first-choice centre-back half-an-hour before kick off is far from ideal,” said McCarthy. “But I still don’t think we should have conceded the goals that we did.”
McCarthy must now prepare for Saturday with key players away from the club, although he will have Matt Jarvis who did not get his England call-up.
“There is no tap you can switch on or off for confidence and belief,” McCarthy said.
“We’ve got a few lads away on international duty and we don’t know how they will come back this coming Thursday.”
