Aston Villa manager Gerard Houllier is casting a worried eye at the Premier League table

GERARD Houllier is keeping a worried eye on the Premier League table after admitting Villa are failing to learn from their mistakes.

Villa are three points off the relegation zone after suffering a depressing 2-0 defeat to Blackburn at Ewood Park yesterday afternoon.

Houllier refuses to panic about the claret and blues’ league position of 13th with Villa also just five points off the top five in a congested table.

But with Arsenal at home and Liverpool away on the horizon, the boss admits the club’s standing is a cause for concern.

“I don’t wait until May, I look at it now,” said Houllier.

“We lost 12 points, you can check, even before me, we were ahead against Stoke, Tottenham, Manchester United, Fulham.

“Had we lost just maybe one third or half we would be over 20 points and be in a more comfortable situation.

“Of course I’m worried about it, but everything is tight one way or another.”

Villa have won two, drawn four and lost three league games under Houllier with ten points from a possible 27 leaving them on 17 for the season so far.
