Alex McLeish backs Birmingham City duo for England

ALEX McLeish has stayed silent for too long – until now.
He has decided to champion the cause of his England-qualified players.
Roger Johnson and Scott Dann, Birmingham City’s key central defensive duo, should come under serious consideration from Fabio Capello, and Liam Ridgewell has been a model of consistency at left-back for the past 18 months as well.
McLeish joked that he tried to persuade Johnson to throw in his lot with Scotland as he gets constantly overlooked when England squads are named.
“I think we are a bit unfashionable as a club and that is probably a factor [why they have been ignored],” he told the Birmingham Mail.
“But the two boys have been absolutely magnificent.
