Aston Villa: Robert Pires is chauffer driven from London to Bodymoor Heath every day

ROBERT Pires hopes to be on the road to success at Villa – after revealing that he is being chauffeured from London to Villa’s training ground every day.
Pires has decided to embark on a 250-mile round trip to and from his home in the capital to report at Villa’s Bodymoor Heath HQ in Tamworth.
The 37-year-old former Arsenal midfield maestro prefers to live at the residence he has kept in London since his glory days with the Gunners from 2000-06.
And Pires has praised Villa manager Gerard Houllier’s relaxed attitude in allowing him to commute 125 miles and back rather than moving to Birmingham.
The French World Cup winner insists being a passenger instead of a driver on the journeys allows him to arrive for training feeling fresh.
“What’s really impressive about this is the English mentality, which is nothing like anywhere else in the world,” said Pires, who is at Villa on a six-month deal.
