ALEX McLeish has declared that Birmingham City won’t be getting carried away by knocking over one of the Premier League big guns.
And he reiterated that his side were still evolving in the Premier League and had plenty to do, now and in the near future.
McLeish celebrates his third anniversary as manager on Sunday still determined to fashion Blues into a stable and respected top-flight outfit.
There has been plenty of chopping and changing because of relegation after six months into his term of office, an arduous promotion campaign in the Championship, then new planning for the Premier League once more.
Blues did remarkably well to finish ninth last season, and this campaign have been striving to find their milieu after some summer transfer disappointments.
“The highs and lows of football,” mused McLeish.
“That’s why it’s so important you don’t get too disappointed with negative results, especially this early in the season.
“I know myself how difficult the feelings are and the emotions, when you have a bad result and we take it every bit as bad as the fans, if not worse. I can assure you of that.
“It’s very competitive the league this season. I don’t know what the comparison would be statistically but it seems clubs are on higher points than they may have been in recent years of scrapping because there have been surprises.
“Blackpool had a storming start, West Brom the same.
